What counts as a 'repairable' chip?

A chip is generally repairable if it's: smaller than a Canadian toonie (about the size of a quarter), not directly in the driver's line of sight, has not already cracked out into a long line, and the inner layer of the windshield is still intact. We'll assess in 2 minutes — send a photo on WhatsApp or just stop by.

How long does a chip repair take?

About 30 minutes from check-in to driving away. Walk-ins welcome at our Surrey and Langley shops, or we can come to you with mobile service across Metro Vancouver.

Will the chip be invisible after repair?

Accepted Answer

It will be 80–95% less visible — the goal of a chip repair is to stop the crack from spreading and restore the windshield's structural strength, not to make it cosmetically invisible. You'll typically see a faint mark in the right light, but the chip is sealed and stabilized for life.

What happens if I don't fix the chip?

It almost always cracks out — usually on the first cold morning, the first hot day, or the first highway pothole. Once a chip becomes a long crack, it's no longer repairable and you need a full windshield replacement. That means paying your ICBC deductible (typically $200–$300) instead of paying nothing.
